President Trump Calls Relatives of Injured National Guard Members to the Presidential Residence

Former President Donald Trump revealed on the weekend that he has asked the relatives of a Guard member killed last week to attend the presidential home.

He noted that he spoke to her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Details on the Tragic Incident

Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a shooting on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Vigils across West Virginia have taken place in their honor.

Presidential Call

The commander-in-chief explained he’s talked about a White House visit for the parents of both individuals of the state National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” the president informed the press. “And likewise with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Community Reaction

Mourners gathered over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to remember Sarah.

Both they had been serving with the state guard as part of Trump’s national effort to aid policing efforts in DC.

Paying Tribute to Beckstrom

“Sarah was the individual that teachers wished for. She conducted herself with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a positive energy that inspired those around her,” Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s former high school, stated to the media. “She was caring, caring and always ready to support those in need.”

Service details for Beckstrom are still being arranged.

Legal Steps and Government Changes

Officials have charged a 29-year-old suspect with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The tragedy led the Trump administration to pause asylum applications and halt granting visas to owners of Afghan passports.

Condition of the Airman

Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, enlisted in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, according to the Associated Press.

He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s governor Morrisey mentioned on television.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi informed a news show that she also intended to speak to his relatives.

Impact of Sarah Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from her high school in 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a military police officer with distinction, as stated by the state guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had fortitude,” he addressed the gathering at the memorial. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
