Toronto Blue Jays Claim Fall Classic Showdown With the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder contributed to the Houston Astros claiming the championship in the 2017 season.

Canada's MLB team advanced to their first championship series following the 1993 season by overcoming the Mariners in the decisive seventh game of the AL Championship Series.

Behind three runs to one, Springer delivered a three-run home run in the seventh inning, propelling the sole Canadian team in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 series victory in the best-of-seven series. They will now face the Dodgers, who are the current crown, in the upcoming championship.

"I'm thrilled for everyone here, our city, Canada," said Springer, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 championship. "It's truly an amazing experience."

Springer has now hit 23 total October home runs, ranking him third on the list after Ramirez (29) and Altuve (27).

"I can't think of anyone else in the world that I want up in that situation besides him with his October magic," noted Schneider.

Seattle, who had led the series two games to none and three games to two, are still the one club yet to make an appearance in a championship series.

Wilson commented "there's no question that it's painful" in the wake of his team's loss at their home ballpark, but applauded their work throughout the year.

"It's a special team. It's a shame that we finished on the losing end of the series," he continued.

Toronto won the title on their two prior appearances in the early 90s, and will host the Los Angeles in the opener on Friday.
